Regular pruning balances growth, lets light and air into the canopy, clears deadwood and makes harvesting easier. Left alone, fruit trees get tall, tangled and disappointing.

An unpruned fruit tree puts its energy into height and crossing branches instead of fruit. The crop ends up small, out of reach and prone to disease in a crowded, damp canopy.
We prune to a plan: thinning cuts to open the tree up, heading cuts where new fruiting wood is wanted, deadwood out, and the height kept where you can pick from the ground or a short ladder. Timing matters, so we'll advise on winter versus summer pruning for each type of tree.
For Golden Retreat maintenance clients, fruit tree pruning, feeding and pest and disease control are part of the package.
